Screenprinting Houses

I am very happy to write that I’ve started screenprinting again after being slowed down earlier in the year by handgate! It had been in my plans since last year and after having a few months of being out of action, I’ve felt driven ever since to make up for it. You can see progress updates of my drawings and printmaking on my instagram, @josephinedellow and Facebook.

I started back by printing the linework of my 'Houses' illustration over colour experiments I had prepared previously, using my lightbox and different media such as coloured pencil, felt tip, markers and chalk pens. I found the chalk pens did not work well to screen print over – the chalk pressed back onto the screen and clogged some of the linework.

These house illustration screen prints can now be bought here!

Emily Sutton Town and Country at YSP

I went on a lovely inspirational trip today to see Emily Sutton's Town and Country exhibition at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Emily's work was awe-inspiring, the skilfully drawn tiny details in her illustrations are beautifully combined with her playful, free approach to shape, colour and perspective. Just amazing!

trying to find a balance

This only really captures a small amount of what I've been up to lately. In the last year I've become a homeowner, gardener (learning), swimmer (recreational) and part time very healthy eater. As well as the things I was already - greetings card designer, MA student, Auntie, sister, daughter, daydreamer. Busy but fun!

Chistmas comes but many times a year...

...(for me it does).. Well Springtime is finally here (hooray!) but the weather has turned the last couple of days so I thought I might as well post up a couple of my most recent Christmas designs for my Bright portfolio!

Christmas...

At work I joined in the £1 secret Santa and so I set myself the challenge of decorating a box that would make chocolate coins as magical as possible! I was hoping for it to look like something one of the three kings might bring!
